The purpose of this course is to help the young people to grow in their understanding of the mystery of the Church and to come to appreciate that in and through the Church they encounter the living Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, the Body of Christ. We will introduce them to the fact that Jesus Christ founded his Church upon St. Peter and the Apostles and that the Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church and the source of her life. The young people will come to know the Church on earth to be the living Body of Christ in the world. They will explore the meaning of the reality that the Church is both divine and human, invisible and visible. They will learn not so much about events in the life of the Church as about the sacred nature of the mystery of the Church. They are encouraged to hear the call to discipleship in their own lives and to reflect upon how they can respond to that call as members of the Body of Christ, the Church.
